Shady Grove "It Feels Like Home"

About Us

Weddings, parties, corporate events.......Shady Grove is an 1892 Acadian Greek Revival farmhouse located just 30 minutes from Jackson in Hazlehurst, Ms, birthplace of Robert Johson, king of the Delta blues.  Situated on 2 1/2 acres of tree-shaded lawn in the country, it offers all of the charm of a beautiful country home with antiques, heartpine floors, beamed kitchen-keeping room sunroom and unique tavern room overlooking a brick-walled pool area.

Porches, decks, a garden area, gazebo and a brick-walled pool are perfect  for entertaining.    These areas as well as the outbuildings indicative of the era (i.e. smokehouse, potato house, and well house) offer unique photo backdrops.  In March the draping wisteria, azaleas, and bridal wreath are breathtaking.

The most common remark from guests is, “This feels like home.”

Accommodations:  The indoor/outdoor venue will comfortably accommodate 200 or more guests.   Tents and chairs can be rented and set up for seating guests, socializing, and dining in the event of inclement weather.   The formal dining room, tavern, and sunroom are excellent for displaying and serving the bride and groom’s cake.

Amenities:  If you are planning a wedding Shady Grove can meet all of your needs.  It is ideal for your rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception.  The upstairs provides the bridal party  a spacious and comfortable area for dressing before the wedding. and the outdoor  area offers beautiful and unique photo opportunities.  Most couples wish to get married in front of the gazebo with a view of the lake.  Accomodations in the mastersuite are available to the bride and groom; and Amtrak downtown can take them to New Orleans, Memphis, or Chicago for the remainder of their  honeymoom in they desire.
